MARCH 2022

Greetings LVC Placements:  Get ready for the Volunteer year beginning in August!  You're receiving this update because you're a Placement supervisor or team member partnered with LVC for the service year program.  We appreciate your mentoring and support of Volunteers on their journey of a lifetime, and look forward to including you in the new season.

New Volunteer Interviews Begin in April!

Applicants interested in the LVC service year begin interviewing with Placements around the beginning of April. Interviews continue through June as new Volunteers sign up to serve at positions in DC, Baltimore, Wilmington DE, Twin Cities MN, and Omaha. The LVC team will contact Placement supervisors when we have prospective Volunteers for you to interview.

Placement Fee Increase Approved

Last year, the LVC president alerted Placements at the July orientation that Placement fees would most likely increase, after over eight years without major adjustment. The LVC Board of Directors approved the tiered increase of $1,000-$3,000 at its April meeting (see new fee in right column), and Placements will see the change in the 3-Way Contract for matches starting in August.

Virtual Volunteer Positions?

Now that you've submitted your in-person position for Volunteers starting in August, consider whether you have any virtual-only opportunities to fill resource gaps and respond to the increasing interest from applicants.  Contact Shae Agee to get your virtual position in front of applicants now.

Inaugural LVC Hike-a-Thon

Can your Placement form a team to join us?  Do you have LVC alumni as supervisors or employees?  We invite Placements to sign up and bring their team of LVC supporters to a nationwide hike-a-thon fundraiser in all LVC cities the weekend of May 20-22, 2022. Create a pledge page on the 99pledges platform, invite your team, and select your city! More info HERE. Sign up at LVC's Hike Page Questions? Please e-mail Shae Agee.

Annual Placement Orientation

Mark your calendar for the annual Zoom update on Wednesday, July 20 at 1:00pm (e)/12:00pm (c)  to review the schedule, programming, and plans for the August 2022 - July 2023 service year. Join the LVC president in a discussion of our 3-Way partnership, and what to expect for the year ahead.

COVID Protocol

LVC will again require new Volunteers to have been vaccinated as a condition of participating in-person. While continuing to follow CDC and state guidelines for LVC house communities, LVC will look to Placements to communicate their workplace expectations to prepare Volunteers for showing up in the ever-changing public health landscape.

QUESTIONS? Contact your LVC program manager for your city.  And thank you for your ongoing support!
